Online Learning
The goal was to bring the printed textbooks to an online Learning System to enrich the student and teacher experience by providing additional resources that were only available online such as audio, videos, PDFs and additional activities and to allow everyone to have a better way to track learning progress.

We started by tagging content in the Print SE, TE and Workbook InDesign files to export as HTML files, using a Script for the HTML file export. We incorporated assets such as Audio, Video and image files to be included in these HTML export files. Tagging was done for Student activities, quizzes and answers as well as for the Teacher Notes. Backend coding for Pimcore was also used for some of the answer types such as matching, multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank and open-ended. We had a spreadsheet where we entered all the tagged HTML file information, including all other supplementary information/files that were not tagged and exported in InDesign such as Standards, TXT and VTT files. That spreadsheet with all file information was then imported into the backend system, PimCore.

Once the files were imported into PimCore, we had to review the front-end Learning Site to ensure that all information was imported and displaying correctly. HTML and CSS were used to edit information in Pimcore to render the information correctly. Once the front end work was final, we then implemented the language tagging as well as the ADA short and long descriptions for any elements that did not have that already setup at the start in InDesign.
